L.E.A.D: Learn, Engage, Aspire, Do (Level 1)

A 9 week community leadership certificate for Grade 10-12

L.E.A.D: Community Leadership (Roots) is a unique Squamish leadership experience for Grade 10-12s in Squamish who are ready to expand their leadership skills and how they can make a difference. They build service hours for graduation, develop valuable skills and experience for their resume or scholarships.

In this 8 week program , participants connect with peers & adults in the community, build important skills like conflict resolution, interpersonal skills, public speaking, project management and discover their leadership style. They will participate in round table discussions on issues that matter to them (the group will decide in session 1 what those issues are) with business leaders, not-for-profit leaders and political leaders and if they so choose will volunteer to help with a community event or create their own community impact partnering with a local not for profit.

Guest facilitators will include politicians, entrepreneurs, coaches and not-for-profit

Below are things we can cover but- important to note the participants will have a lot of say in which aspects they would most like to dive into so the final session outline will only happen after our intro session 

• Leadership Styles- what's your natural style: Strengths & blindspots
• Conflict Resolution 5 styles you need to know
  
• Round Table Q&A with politicians (municipal, provincial, federal) 
• Community engagement and youth voices
• Mentorship 1:1 
• Community project of choice
• Sitting on a board and advocating for more youth input on issues that matter

• Hands-on volunteering as a group (group decision where)

Session dates: 2 program times running in Fall 2025, max 12 per cohort 

Tuesdays 4.00-6.30pm:
